Over view of Endurance performance model:
Performing a needs analysis for an endurance runner involves a systematic approach to identify the specific physical and physiological demands of the sport, as well as the strengths and weaknesses of the athlete. Here are some key areas we consider:
Aerobic Capacity: Endurance running primarily relies on aerobic metabolism, making aerobic capacity a critical factor in performance. Assessments such as VO2 max and lactate threshold can help determine the athlete's current aerobic capacity and identify areas for improvement.
Running Economy: Running economy is the ability to maintain a certain pace with minimal energy expenditure. Factors such as running form, stride length, and cadence can impact running economy. Analyzing the athlete's form through video analysis can help identify areas for improvement.
Muscular Strength and Endurance: Endurance running also requires muscular endurance and strength, particularly in the lower body. Assessing strength through exercises like squats and lunges can help identify areas for improvement.
Injury History: As this will be the foundation and map that we follow on their development journey.
Nutrition habits: The athletes ability to recover and stay satiated has a direct impact on our development plan
